Rocky Ford City Council
2016 Recall
Margaret Grasmick, Robert Perez, J.R. Thompson, Leon Ortega, and Daryl Grasmick went up for recall, taking place on November 8th, 2016. The reason was due to controversy with City Manager Ian Kaiser and a lack of transparency on his performance review, which put him on administrative leave (Gary Cox becoming interim).
Thompson and Ortega were not recalled by margins of 7.96% and 2.86%, respectively.
However, Grasmick, Perez, and Grasmick were recalled, with margins spanning from 13.38% to 19.62%.
All of those recalled are registered Democrats. Ortega, the most narrowly retained, is registered Democrat. Thompson, with a healthier retention margin, is a registered Republican.
All who replaced those recalled are registered Republicans (Charles "Bill" Pattie, Rachel Patrick, and Rich Geist).
Gary Cox remains the interim City Manager, as of early October 2017.
2017 Election
On November 7th, 2017, Mayor is contested with 3 candidates and no incumbent. Wards 1 and 2 are incumbents who are unopposed (and were elected into council via recall of previous seatholders). Ward 3 should also be up, but no word on candidates.
No word on Ballot Measures, as the Ballot has not yet been released.
