Campaign Finance
Ballot Measures
A planned measure to limit housing growth was kept off ballot over missing “oath”. The Lakewood Clerk rendered a decision that the "oath" was valid but the original challenger to the ballot measure has filed suit, thus keeping the measure off the ballot for the 2017 election. DP Article
Although delayed, this issue is very likely to come up for a vote in a special election in the near future.
Strategic Growth Initiative
This issue will not be on the 2017 ballot, but is creating controversy within the City; with most of the elected officials and candidates coming down on one side or the other. Pro's (outlined by Cathy Kentner, one of the intitatives proponents) and Con's (outlined by current Mayor, Adam Paul) are presented :
